I used a 12 x 12 piece of birch wood which is about 1/2 thick. With the frame each painting is approximately 15 1/4 inches wide. Each frame was finished with a natural stain and then the name and decorative elements were painted with acrylics. The frame and the painting is one piece. They are securely adhered together. There is a sawtooth hanger on the back so it is ready to hang.
